N97 Vs Apple

Two of the most popular and most-wanted brands on the market are confronting, we are talking about the <strong>Nokia N97 vs. Apple iPhone</strong> battle. The iPhone was and it still is one of the best touch screen phones ever and now that Nokia has the n97 revealed it seems there is a tie. So let’s take a closer look and see where each one scores best.

To start with, let’s take the display. The size is similar in both phones, 3.5”, but you will see a difference in Nokia N97. It’s somehow clearer and has a better resolution as well, 640x360, whereas the iPhone has 320x480 pixels. And you know that in a touch screen phone each pixel counts. But the iPhone has a very high sensitivity and scrolling around is done easily and with more passion, in case of Nokia you have to press a bit harder so the phone takes your command. 

Now let’s see the storage capacity, once you pay so much for a phone you expect to be able to load it up with lots of applications. Nokia N97 has the largest capacity seen in all phones. The internal is 32GB and an upgrade is available, of 16GB, a total of 49GB. The iPhone 3GS comes in two varieties, of 16GB and 32GB.

And if talking about apps, Nokia has an advantage. You can get your stuff from Ovi store and not only, because you are able to find tons of items on different websites. Unfortunately, for the iPhone you have only App Store, they have amazing ones we can’t doubt that, but still just one place, not enough sometimes. As for processor, the iPhone packs more speed thanks to the RM Cortex A8 processor, clocking at 600MHz.


The operating system is very important. Nokia N97 runs on Symbian v9.4 series 60, and we all know that iPhone has its own:  iPhone OS 3.0. it does provide a multitasking platform and it is more accessible when it comes to browsing the internet. Nokia N97 unfortunately does not have a great browser and when you start navigating around it seems like something is missing. It is clearly that the iPhone has gained some points here. Furthermore, we’ll give Nokia N97 an extra point for the full QWERTY keyboard. There is nothing like a hardware keyboard and the one on Nokia is so pleasant to type, that is perfect for those who are used to text a lot and send lots of mails.

On the 3GS you can find a 3 megapixels camera improved, but when you take a look at the pictures taken with a 5 megapixels camera with Carl Zeiss optics. There is no comparison need to be made. Phones have GPS, iPhone uses Google Map and Nokia uses its own Nokia Maps 2.0, with turn-by-turn directions and all the perks included.


Design and size matters, both are similar in volume, but you can clearly see that Nokia is a bit thicker and a bit heavier as well. But having a full QWERTY integrated we can’t blame it.
