Mouse Does Not Respond

There could be a lot of reason for why computer mouse stops working all of a sudden. There is no specific reason for such faults as it is an electronic gadget and problem could be technical or lack of compatibility.

Mouse, an important part of your computer system or laptop is an input device without which most of your work would remain undone. Just like every other accessories of computer, mouse also plays an important role and anyone’s work would get to halt if it stops working. Now since it is a technical device, most of the times, the problem is technical. Mouse may stop working all of a sudden when your computer is working for a while or your system could not detect this external device due to configuration, virus, malwares etc. Some time even new mouse does not respond and the old mouse goes from bad to worse kind of situation.

When your system completes booting process and main window appears on your computer screen, you would find that mouse is stuck in the middle of the screen. In such situations make sure that your mouse is properly attached to the CPU or the cable cord is not broken. Try to use new mouse in order to check whether the problem is with your old mouse or PS/2 connector. If your mouse and keyboard both are not working then the cause is simple, you might have inserted port into wrong jacks. So correct the connection, you are done and don’t forget to reboot your computer system again. Sometimes mouse stops working due to conflict with software installed on your system, so begin the search from the software that you have installed just before your mouse stopped working. If you are unable to find the reason for the fault in your mouse, install the operating system again. If your mouse still does not respond after reinstallation of operating system, go to Control Panel > System Hardware> Device Manager and double click one mice and other pointing device as there you can see very easily whether your mouse conflict with other installed devices or not.

Another reason could be too much Icons, folder on the desktop window as it will slow down booting process and can cause the freezing up of mouse pointer. Sometime due to multiple things running on your system increases load on CPU results into freezing or hanging of your computer system which shows that your system gets crashed or is affected by some virus. Best option to solve such problem is to restart your system at once. Today you can find mouse that comes with their own CD that is a must to install in order to make your mouse work properly. Even after successful installation of software if your mouse doesn’t work properly, contact the seller and ask for a change.

And if all the above discussed methods can not solve your problem, then you should try driver tools such as Driver Checker in order to install suitable driver for your mouse or if you completely want to get rid of problem related to wired mouse, go for wireless mouse as chances of failure is less in it as compared to wired optical mouse.
