As the iPhone 5 release date draws near, it’s likely we’ll be seeing a lot of images of what the iPhone 5 will potentially look like. Heck, we just saw one a few weeks back that showed theiPhone 5 as being the biggest iPhone yet. However, this newest iPhone 5 mock-up may be the most interesting one yet because it’s nothing like the iPhones we’ve seen in the past. While we don’t know for sure that the iPhone 5 will look like the image we are about to show you, it’s still worth looking at a little closer.
iPhone 5 Design By Italian Designer
When Apple is getting ready to release a new iPhone, it’s not unheard of for potential iPhone designs to hit the Internet. This latest one comes courtesy of Federico Ciccarese. Ciccarese based his design off of the various rumors that have been flooding the Internet over the past few months. Ciccarese managed to incorporate several of the rumored specifications into his iPhone 5 mock-up, including the rumored curve back, headphone jack on the side of the device, and larger 4-inch screen. Not only that, but Ciccarese’s design boasts a lit up Apple logo.
A Closer Look Into the iPhone 5 Mock-up
This new iPhone 5 image depicts the device as being very curvy. That lines up with all of the rumors that the iPhone 5 would have more of a round shape. The advantage to this design is obviously that the phone will be easier to hold–or at least much easier than the current rectangular-shaped iPhone 4S.
Ciccarese’s image also shows a change in the location of both the front and rear cameras on the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 rear camera is in the middle of the device, while the front camera has been moved from the left side of the phone (as it was on the 4S) to the right side.
To accommodate the new, curvy design, the volume and silencer buttons have been moved down and are closer together than they were on the iPhone 4S. Interestingly enough, the headphone jack is now on the right side of the device.
But perhaps the most interesting aspect of the device is the lit up Apple logo on the back. It’s assumed that the logo will light up when the device is in use–however, Ciccarese didn’t make this clear in his design. The idea of an iPhone 5 with an Apple logo that lights up is very intriguing and exciting.
What the Design Doesn’t Show Us
As nice as Ciccarese’s design is, it doesn’t show us a few of the things that people are most wanting to see in the iPhone 5: 4G LTE capability and additional physical switches. In Ciccarese’s pictures, we see the familiar (and perhaps loathed) 3G symbol and we only see one physical switch: the silencer. Now, as we’ve noted, Ciccarese’s design is only a mock-up, so it’s possible that the actual iPhone 5 may look nothing like it and may come with the 4G and physical switches we’ve been wishing for.
Still, we’d be very happy to see an iPhone 5 that incorporates some of Ciccarese’s beautiful design as well as the other design features Apple iPhone users have been asking for.
