Smartphone Flips

Smartphone flip are something unusual, because we are all used to seeing touch screen phones with QWERTY keyboards on-screen or sliding ones. But without doubts, these types of phone have popularity among certain users. Indeed, there are not as many models out there, because everyone is focusing on super large displays with out of the ordinary capabilities, Gorilla glass, Super AMOLED and so on. But let’s not forget that we are living in a variety world, where there are various products for every need and interest. A company that has some smartphone flip devices is BlackBerry, where you can find BlackBerry Style and BlackBerry Pearl Flip.
But before we get to these two models, LG Flip II is a dual-screen slider that runs on Android and is ready to break the ice and amaze us all. The phone is available at T-Mobile and the screen flips up, rather than sliding. It is also available at a reasonable price and runs on Android 2.2 FroYo. As for BlackBerry Style, it comes in a clamshell factor and offers a full QWERTY keyboard, which is unusual for a flip phone.

It runs on BlackBerry OS 6, coming with a new WebKit browser, great multimedia experience and impressive call quality. For some users the phone can be considered slightly bulky, but it is a matter of taste and flip phones can’t be as slim as touch screen headsets. Due to the keyboard, the shape looks more like a square, being wide, with curved sides and rounded corners and a smooth back to assure a better grip when you hold it in your hands. On the front is a 2” LCD display, colored, which matches the super glossy exterior. It shows the time and date, battery life and signal strength. When you flip the phone, it shows a 2.7” display, supporting 65.000 colors and looking stunning. You will have no problems reading text and view web pages. The QWERTY keyboard is similar to the one found on BlackBerry Torch, it is thin and flat to the surface, so you will need some time to get used with the keys and typing experience. But because it is roomy and comfortable, you can easily text by feel. Among other features, we can recall Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, multimedia messaging and let’s not forget about that strong e-mail support. BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 has a very nice internal display and interesting design, updated interface, Documents to Go, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a 2 megapixels camera to take your favorite shots. There is no GPS or 3G on this one, and the keyboard is not full, you have to get used to SureType keyboard, which consists of two letters per key. The exterior screen shows the basic information and a bit more, because you can read the preview of the incoming e-mails and you also see track information hen using the media player. The flip mechanism is quite smooth and has a solid built. As for the internal display, it supports 65.536 colors and a pixel resolution of 240x320, so everything on screen looks vibrant, sharp and the icons seem to pop thanks to the BlackBerry interface.

The operating system here is Blackberry OS 4.6, giving a fresh appearance to it all. BlackBerry is well-known for its e-mail support, so no matter the model you have, you get the same features.
